Primate Tracking and Wildlife Experiences in Kibale

Crater Safari Lodge is perched on a scenic ridge overlooking Uganda’s second-largest crater lake, offering a tranquil retreat near the edge of Kibale Forest National Park. With sweeping views across the lake and surrounding forest, the lodge provides an ideal base for exploring one of Uganda’s most biodiverse regions.

Guests can choose between deluxe thatched chalets and cabana-style rooms, all designed to blend seamlessly into the natural landscape. Many accommodations offer uninterrupted lake views, private balconies, and relaxed indoor seating, creating a comfortable and immersive stay shaped by nature, calm, and space.

Sustainable Lodge Facilities Overlooking a Crater Lake

Crater Safari Lodge is located close to Kibale National Park, one of Uganda’s premier destinations for chimpanzee trekking and primate research. The surrounding rainforest is rich in wildlife, birdlife, and community-led cultural experiences, all easily arranged through the lodge.

The lodge’s main area features an open-plan lounge, bar, and dining space built from natural materials, overlooking the crater lake. Guests can unwind in a relaxed setting, enjoy locally inspired meals, or spend time by the swimming pool, set within well-kept gardens and offering drinks service throughout the day.

Designed with sustainability in mind, the lodge is solar-powered and integrated into the landscape with indigenous gardens and quiet outdoor spaces. It offers a comfortable, low-impact base for primate encounters, cultural exploration, and unhurried time in nature.

“Uganda is one of the most biologically diverse places on Earth, where ancient forests still stand and wildlife continues to shape the land in ways that remind us how rich and complex the natural world truly is.”
